Apple iBook G4

Purchasing an Apple computer was absurd for me initially. I felt unmoved from Apple's intelligent "Change" advertisements, and like with countless fellow PC/Windows users, I thought Macs were not for me but for beginners, specialized designers and other people who were uncomfortable around any new technology.

Nevertheless, when I started my quest to buy an affordable portable, I bumped into many problems. The ultraportables and subnotebooks did not possess the elementary functions I needed especially an optical-drive, and the price just forget it I am not made of money. The ulta-thin peaked my fancy, so I spent many hours looking into these models. I fell in love with a couple of interesting models; the Fujitsu S6210, IBM T40 sequence, and Dell 600m. Still these were well above my price range which left me disappointed. (about $1,000).

From the choices I had above, guess what? Apple iBook G4 weighs in at under five pounds, however is in the ultraportable category. It's too heavy to be an ultrathin, nevertheless Apple iBook G4 small work area display means it doesn't fit with most thin-and-lights. What really caught my eye was the very unobtrusive price tag. Aside from Averatec, the Apple iBook G4 is the one pocket book I came across with a retail price of $999 that weighed in under 5 pounds. However like all savvy consumers ready to shell out thier hard-earned money, I was still not convinced.

My research continued with diligence and I consistently realized all the good features about the Apple iBook G4. Finally, the giants, Apple and Amazon, came up with the ultimate plan for someone like me. In late October, Apple integrated Airport Extreme (802.11g) and increased the overall processor to 1.2Ghz. Moreover, Amazon courageously offered a hundred and fifty dollar rebate exclusively for Apple iBook G4 and some other compacts. It didn't take long for me to jump at the terrific price of $850 + $20 shipping. I could not pass up this very good deal.
